The Bills won a classic at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, beating the Buccaneers 44-32 as quarterback Josh Allen outclassed Baker Mayfield. Allen threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed into the end zone for three scores.

Allen and Mayfield traded comedic insults before the game, but the Buffalo signal caller has won the bragging rights for this season. While it was a thrilling game, Johnson could face disciplinary action for his gesture in the end zone.

Johnson scored a 52-yard touchdown with 36 seconds remaining in the second quarter, which ensured that the Bills entered halftime 21-20 ahead. It was the longest score of his NFL career, surpassing the 41-yard touchdown he scored against the Los Angeles Rams in 2024.

The Bills’ running back celebrated by lying on his front in the end zone and thrusting the ground. The NFL fined Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams for a similar gesture against the Washington Commanders in January.

Williams was fined $25,325 for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Johnson could face similar punishment. While Williams has since signed a three-year, $83 million extension, with $67 million guaranteed, Johnson is on more modest terms.

Johnson signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Bills in March, but only $1.49 million of the total is guaranteed. The NFL typically issues fines for rule violations every week, meaning that Johnson will face an anxious wait to see if he’s disciplined.

Still, Johnson had a stellar game for the Bills with 61 receptions yards, and a touchdown. It was the perfect response from Buffalo after losing 30-13 to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.

A distraught Allen took full responsibility last week and vowed to do better offensively. The Buffalo quarterback stuck to his word and showed the world why he is the reigning NFL MVP.

Allen did throw two interceptions during the game, but the Bills improved to 7-3, while the Buccaneers dropped to 6-4. Buffalo started the year 4-0, and is attempting to rediscover its early-season form and make a Super Bowl push.

The Bills have yet to win a Super Bowl, despite making four straight trips to the championship game between 1991 and 1994. Unsurprisingly, the Bills are the only team to have played in four straight Super Bowls and failed to win a championship.

Buffalo is now facing pressure within the AFC East division from the New England Patriots, but Allen manifested a Super Bowl parade before the start of this season. “I can see the parade. I can feel it,” Allen said.

“Five degrees, brisk, rolling down, hearing the bus roll over all the salt and the ice. Thousands upon thousands of fans, filling up downtown Buffalo. I can see where we’re going up on the steps at city hall. I see it all. So, we gotta turn it into a reality.”
