Eagles Closing In on Trade for AFC East CB with 109.7 QB Rating Allowed This Season. OCD

Philadelphia, PA – October 12, 2025

Trade negotiations between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets are now in the final stages, as both sides move toward completing a deal that would send

cornerback Michael Carter II to Philadelphia, league sources confirm.

The Eagles have been aggressive in recent days, seeking immediate help for a depleted secondary that has been plagued by injuries and poor coverage performances. Following consecutive losses and a 34–17 collapse against the Giants, general manager

Howie Roseman is finalizing this move to stabilize the defense before Week 7.

Under the current framework, the Eagles would receive:

  • CB Michael Carter II

and the Jets would receive:

  • 2026 third-round pick

Carter, 24, has allowed a 109.7 quarterback rating when targeted this season and holds a PFF grade of 46.5, marking a down year compared to his 2023 campaign. In his first four games of 2025, he surrendered

four completions of 20+ yards, a statistic that has slightly diminished his market value despite his starting experience and contract security.

Still, Carter remains a high-upside slot corner signed through

2027, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio views him as an immediate plug-and-play piece who can rotate between inside and outside alignments depending on matchup needs.

League evaluators estimate the trade value aligns with

100–150 points on the Jimmy Johnson Trade Chart (2025) — roughly equivalent to a late third-round selection — which matches the agreed compensation.

For the Eagles, this move addresses a critical weakness. With

Quinyon MitchellJakorian Bennett, and Mac McWilliams sidelined, and both Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson struggling, Philadelphia desperately needed a stabilizing presence in the secondary.

Pending medical clearance and final cap adjustments,

the trade is expected to be finalized within 48 hours, giving the Eagles a young, controllable defender who can help them regroup defensively as they aim to reclaim control of the NFC East race.
