Buffalo. NY. Bills fans are growing increasingly frustrated as the team continues bringing back former players instead of pursuing fresh talent that could reshape the roster during a challenging season.
Shaq Lawson’s sudden appearance in Buffalo lit up Bills Mafia online. He’s a beloved figure with history here, but his return isn’t sparking excitement like it once did.
Lawson enters his ninth NFL season with 121 solo tackles, 86 assists, 26 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one interception while playing for four different teams.
During his time with the Bills, he delivered more than 150 tackles and nine sacks. His peak came in 2017, when he posted 5.5 sacks and raised expectations for long-term dominance.
But at age 31, he’s slower than today’s modern edge rushers. He still plays with power and remains strong against the run, but the explosiveness isn’t the same.
This season, Buffalo has relied heavily on reunions. Tre’Davious White returned. Jordan Poyer returned. Dane Jackson took another shot. Shaq Thompson also came back after his Carolina days.
On offense, Gabe Davis rejoined the team after departing in 2024. These moves are safe and familiar, but they haven’t produced the transformational spark fans expected.
Supporters understand the value of players who know the system. Familiar faces integrate quickly, but the roster lacks the fresh upside needed to push through AFC competition.
Shaq Lawson may still bring energy and reliable run support. Yet the bigger question remains. Are the Bills evolving, or simply circling back to their past without real progress.
Bills fans want change. They haven’t seen it. And Lawson’s possible return feels like another predictable move instead of a bold step forward.
