Despite tight coverage and simultaneous contact, the call led directly to another Dallas touchdown. “Two elite athletes fighting for the same ball,” Elway said. “That is not interference. You let them play.”
In total, those three penalties cost Kansas City 51 yards, two automatic first downs, and ultimately 14 points. They lost by three.
