Buffalo, NY – November 21, 2025
A tough night for the Buffalo Bills ended in a heartbreaking 23-19 loss to the Houston Texans. Despite the team’s efforts, they couldn’t overcome the relentless pressure from the Texans, especially from their dominant defense. Josh Allen, the Bills’ quarterback, didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration, publicly criticizing both offensive coordinator Joe Brady and head coach Sean McDermott for decisions he believes cost the team the game.
A Night of Pressure for Allen
Throughout the game, Allen was under constant duress from the Texans’ defense, sacked 8 times and hit a total of 12 times. Despite completing 24 of 34 passes for 253 yards, Allen couldn’t escape the aggressive play from Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter, who combined for 4.5 sacks on Allen.
Allen’s Public Criticism
After the game, Allen voiced his disappointment with both Brady and McDermott, particularly regarding missed opportunities to win the game. “McDermott is the one that cost us the game,” Allen said. “We had a chance to kick a field goal and he passed it up. If he had kicked it, we could’ve gone ahead at the end of the game.”
The Missed Field Goal Opportunity
In the final moments of the game, the Bills faced a critical decision when they were down by four points with just under two minutes left. They had a chance to kick a field goal, but instead, the team chose not to take the opportunity. Allen, visibly frustrated by the decision, felt that a successful field goal could have shifted the momentum and given Buffalo a chance to win.

Frustration Reaches a Boiling Point
Allen’s frustration reached its peak when he slammed his helmet to the ground on the sideline after a stalled drive. The Bills’ offense had driven deep into Texans’ territory, but the drive faltered after a series of runs by James Cook III. The last run — on a fourth-and-1 from the Houston 23-yard line — was stopped for a 2-yard loss.
Allen, frustrated with the situation, appeared to voice his anger to backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, saying what many lip-readers and the Prime Video broadcast believed to be, “What are we doing?”
Allen Continues to Criticize
“We had a chance to win it there at the end,” Allen said after the tough loss. “We did a good job of staying in it and our defense bailed us out a couple of times. We’ve got to find a way, and we didn’t.”
McDermott’s Strong Response
Despite Allen’s struggles, which included being sacked 8 times and hit 12 times, head coach Sean McDermott also voiced his concerns. “When they hit our quarterback 12 times, I don’t like that,” McDermott said. “It’s not a healthy way to play, and it’s not a good way to keep our quarterback healthy for the rest of the season. We’ve got to play better.”
Necessary Changes Ahead
The Bills not only failed to capitalize on key opportunities, but they also face mounting criticism from within the team. If they don’t make adjustments in their decision-making and find ways to protect their quarterback, they could face further challenges in upcoming games.
