Nashville, October 20, 2025 — Following the 31–13 New England Patriots win over the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium, Titans icon Eddie George (1995 Heisman, Ring of Honor member) made waves by calling
Drake Maye the “future MVP of the NFL.”
This game was a milestone for Maye: 21/23 (91.3%), 222 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, plus 62 rushing yards
. At one point, he completed 16 straight passes. The Patriots rattled off 28 unanswered points after trailing 3–10.
Maye’s 91.3% completion rate broke the Patriots’ single-game record previously held by
Tom Brady (minimum 20 attempts, set in 2009). It underscored New England’s momentum and Maye’s growing command in his second NFL season.
Eddie George’s remarks:
“What he did is unbelievable— 21-for-23, 91.3% against an NFL defense, and he broke Tom Brady’s single-game record while playing on the road in Nashville. The processing speed, the poise under pressure, and the ball placement into tight windows show a quarterback reading the game at a high level. If he keeps this standard, I believe Drake Maye is the NFL’s future MVP.”

From a tactical standpoint, Maye orchestrated the offense with rhythm, repeatedly attacking the middle and crossing routes to stress the Titans’ coverage. His mobility extended plays and turned pressure into opportunities. Sustained drives finished cleanly in the
red zone, reflecting sharp coverage reads and smart tempo shifts.
Having a Titans legend publicly endorse the opposing quarterback right after a loss only amplifies Maye’s ceiling. Given his efficiency, accuracy, and low-mistake profile, the “
future MVP” conversation around Drake Maye no longer feels far-fetched.
